Milan; well known as the fashion capital of the world. It did live up to the reputation and was quite a sight to see. When our class arrived, we were in complete awe. From the fashion to the architecture, Milan was perfect.

Our first stop was the famous Galleria II. I was expecting just a normal shopping center maybe with a tad more elegance.  To my surprise, this was what a fashion mall in Milan looked like. It was breathtakingly beautiful. Galleria II was filled with high fashion stores-- or, in other words, it is truly a fashion major's dream come true.

After touring Galleria II, we were ready for our adventures the next day. We woke up bright and early to go on our fashion tour around the city. Our tour guide, Chiara, was a very experienced stylist in the city and seemed to have connections everywhere. She was extremely knowledgeable about fashion and how it affects the city of Milan. We stopped at many places including a luxurious perfume boutique, a vintage shop specializing in high end fashion, Bottega Veneta, and many more. Our favorites were visiting the designer's showroom and going to the biggest Dolce and Gabbana store in the world.

Our most exciting stop was the very talented designer, Gianluca Saitto's fashion showroom. His showroom was filled with exquisite and unique couture. The garments were constructed with the most beautiful fabrics I have ever seen. He had clothing made out of things like crocodile leather and lavish silk. It was quite an inspiration to be able to talk to such a young, passionate designer. The most inspiring part by far was learning about his creative process and his journey. We learned that he started off as a tailor and worked his way up to becoming a rising star and one of the most talented haute couture designers in Milan.

After being swept away by Gianluca's showroom, it was time to experience the astonishing Dolce and Gabbana store. Once we entered, it was almost unreal. The store was huge and filled with the most beautiful and colorful clothing that I have ever seen. Everything was extremely chic but also had a fun, glamorous edge to it. Basically to sum it up, we were in fashion heaven.

Experiencing the fashion in Milan first hand, was definitely an unforgettable experience. It made me fall even more in love with the fashion world than I already was and gave me motivation to someday work in one of the beautiful places I visited. All in all, Milan was absolutely everything we expected and more.
